After seeing companies like Apple, Facebook, and Google bring the more politically correct and diverse Unicode 9.0 emojis, I was a bit concerned by Samsung's inaction. But it seems like the South Korean tech giant has finally decided to bring Unicode 9.0 emoji support to the Galaxy Note7 with the "green battery icon" update. Better late than never, eh?

We all know that Samsung's latest phablet has been through some rough times since it launched in August, and to distinguish safe Galaxy Note7 units from dangerous ones, Samsung decided to roll out an update that would change the battery icon color in the status bar. Instead of the white one we are now familiar with, it will be green to indicate that your Galaxy Note7 does not have a faulty battery.

Well, that's not the only thing that this update will bring it seems. According to Emojipedia, Samsung will bring Unicode 9.0 emoji support to the Note7 – a first for Samsung – with the ability to modify skin tones. The new additions include a selfie-taking hand emoji and a slightly more vulgar hand gesture as well as more food and animal emojis.

The update also brings some changes to the existing emojis. As you can see above, some faces have been revised, but they are very subtle. If you are curious to see all the changes and new emojis that Samsung is bringing with the latest Note7 update, Emojipedia has the full list. Although it seems like the update is for Galaxy Note7 users only for now, we are fairly certain that the emoji update will also make it to other Galaxy users in the near future.
