Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to arrive in India on August 11

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016
If you're a huge fan of Samsung's Galaxy Note series in India and have been used to impatiently waiting for the flagship to arrive in the Indian market a month or so after its official announcement, the great news is that you won't have to do that with the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung has confirmed that it will launch their latest flagship in the Indian market on August 11, which means that the new device will hit store shelves near you a week or so after it is launched today.

Today, all eyes will be on Samsung's Galaxy Note Unpacked event where the company will take the wraps off the Galaxy Note 7, possibly accompanied by the launch of the next-gen Gear VR and the Gear S3 smartwatch.

For the uninitiated, the series of leaks over the past few weeks has given us some idea of what we can expect from the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung's new phablet is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4 GB of RAM. You can also expect a 12 MP f/1.7 camera with OIS and 4K video, along with 5 MP front-facing camera, a 3,500 mAh battery, along with the much rumored iris scanner.

The Galaxy Note 7 opens for pre-orders in Korea immediately after it is unveiled and will arrive in the European markets on August 16. Samsung has already begun accepting pre-registrations for the upcoming phablet on its Indian site. If you may recall, Samsung had priced the Galaxy Note 5 well in comparison to the Galaxy Note 4, but this time, we're afraid that the Edge screen and new features such as the iris scanner, could put the phablet out of reach for many budget conscious consumers in India.

Rumors suggest that Samsung will price the Galaxy Note 7 at EUR 849 (about Rs. 63,000), but we'll be able to confirm that as soon as more details emerge after it is unveiled today as well as over the coming days.

Samsung's Galaxy Note Unpacked event kicks off at 11:00 a.m. EDT (8:30 p.m. IST) in New York City on Aug. 2, 2016, followed by Rio de Janeiro at noon, and London at 4:00 p.m. If you can't be at any of these places, don't worry because Samsung plans to globally webcast the launch event. The Unpacked event will be screened with a 360-degree view option for the first time and you can also watch the unveiling using the Gear VR headset.

Of course, we'll be there to cover the launch of the Galaxy Note 7 in New York City. So stay tuned as we bring you all the details as they are unveiled.
