Fossil launches their two new smartwatches in the US

The smartwatch market is still in its infancy in many ways. While traditionally dominate corporations like Samsung continue to carve out their mobile niches in the market, those companies who were about wearables before they got smart are attempting to wedge their way into the future as well. Today Fossil announced their latest bid for the action with two new smart devices for your wrist.

These two Fossil Q-series devices have been available abroad, but this is the first time they're hitting the US market. They offer some pretty similar specs. The Q Marshal and Q Wander both sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chipset under the hood, each with 4GB of internal storage to full from. They all have fully circular displays, unfortunately both with the egregious "flat tire" that was the bane of the Moto smartwatch line.

The Q Marshall and the Q Wander both have Bluetooth and WiFi support, but they're in many ways similar to the previous Fossil offering the Q Founder. They are smaller and more compact versions of the company's previous endeavor, clocking in with a 45mm diameter instead of 47mm.

This reduction in size has resulted in a decrease in battery size as well. While their forebearer rocked a clean 400mAh battery, these two devices come with 360mAh batteries.

You have a variety of options when it comes to bands, meaning the price of these smartwatches will vary somewhat in the range between $275 and $315.

We're on the fence about Fossil's competitiveness in the smartwatch industry. Do you think they're putting forward what it takes to compete? Let us know your take in the comments below!
