BaconReader

BaconReader is one of the more popular Reddit apps out there. It's developed by OneLouder, creators of the highly acclaimed 1Weather and TweetCaster apps. It features a Material Design interface, background themes, and color-coded comment threads to help make it easier to read and look good. It supports some power user features such as moderator tools, a pretty decent search, advanced filtering, and multi-account support. There is a free version and you can pick up the pro version for $1.99 as a separate app or as an in-app purchase.
Boost for reddit

Boost for reddit is a lesser-known, but critically acclaimed app. It has a ton of features, including view switching per subreddit, Material Design, in-app media previews, filtering, and even widget support. You can customize the app with various themes, including one made specifically for AMOLED displays. You can even change the font type, size, and color if you want. There is also the all-important spoiler support. It's one of the more feature rich Reddit apps and totally worth a shot.

Now for Reddit is one of the more simple Reddit apps on the list. It features the very basics, including support for various file types, Imgur support, and support for Reddit Gold features. Now also has a modern design that lets you swipe to change subreddits for quick browsing. You can also browse popular and trending subreddits at your discretion. There is a free version along with a pro version for $3.99 (as an in-app purchase). It's a great option for those who only need a few useful features.

Reddit's official app had quite a few issues when it was first released. Since then, it seems to have recovered favorably from a majority of issues. It's a solid middle-of-the-road option that does what it needs to do. It has the basic features and they do seem to work properly. You'll find plenty of other Reddit apps on this list that have more features and more customization options. However, if you need the very basic Reddit experience, this is the one to go with.

Another one of the most popular Reddit apps out there is reddit is fun. It has a modern design that wraps around what is basically the standard Reddit experience. That means that you'll see a whole bunch of text. It also has theming, support for pretty much any file type, moderator tools, widget support, and the standard set of features you'd find in most Reddit apps. It's an excellent overall experience that should do well with almost any type of Reddit user.
Reddit Offline

Reddit Offline is one of the few completely free Reddit apps. Its sole purpose for existing is to help you read Reddit offline. The general premise is that you download large sections of the site. You can then access them offline during things like airplane flights, subway rides, or in areas where your don't have good web. You can schedule the app to download content at specific times and it'll even download images and comments. It's in beta which means there are bugs that you may have to deal with. Otherwise, it's a good little app.
RedReader

RedReader's claim to fame is that it's a completely free and open source Reddit app. That includes no advertising and no tracking whatsoever. Along with that, it has support for Imgur albums, gifv files (along with most other common file types), multi-account support, and even a night mode theme that's easier on the eyes. There is tablet support as well if you need that. It's a fairly basic app which is nice if you don't want one that's loaded down with features.
Relay for Reddit

Relay for Reddit is one of the more feature packed Reddit apps out there. It uses Material Design as well as a card-based interface to help make readability a little bit easier. It also has a ton of features, including moderator features, inline media previews, multi-account support, subreddit filters, spoiler alert support, and customization features. You can also have it send you a variety of notifications if you so choose. There is a free and pro version that you can check out if you want to.
Slide for Reddit

Slide for Reddit is a lesser-known but fairly modern Reddit app. Its big claim to fame is its insane customization options. It boasts 1800 combination of themes which is pretty good. It also has the basic Reddit features along with some extra stuff like Synccit integration, Shadowbox support, and live thread support. Going for the pro version will also get ad-block in the built-in browser. There is even an option to download content for offline viewing later. It's an open source app with no advertisements which is also a pretty big plus.
Sync for Reddit

Sync for Reddit is another one of the more feature rich Reddit apps. This one claims to be optimized specifically for the /r/soccer subreddit (if that matters to you) and features a fully Material Design interface. It has multi-window support, multi-account support, a night theme (with a separate AMOLED theme), and support for Android Nougat. This one has had a few more bugs reported than normal, but it's definitely still worth a chance. It works quite well most of the time.
