When we review devices here at Android Authority, there are a lot of key factors that come into play. Sure build quality, camera, and extra features are things that can make a phone stand out from the pack, but there are also a lot of little things that can make a device special. When Google announced the Pixel and Pixel XL back in October, many of these extra features were lacking. They had no optical image stabilization, no waterproofing, and what many would call an uninspired design. However, it was the attention to detail and sheer amount of polish of Android as an operating system that really made the phones stand out.
If you've been holding on dear to your beloved Nexus 5X or 6P, we don't blame you. Last year's flagships still hold up strong as we close out 2016, and slowly but surely, developers are finding ways to add those "Pixel exclusive" features to the Nexus of year's past. Already we've seen the adaptation of Google's new search bar, and even the Google Assistant be modded into a number of user's devices, but we finally have the feature we know you've all been waiting for: the Pixel home button animation.
Finally owners of the Nexus 5X and 6P can experience Google's quick but cute home animation on their own device. The setup is pretty simple, too. You can either download the flashable package and flash it in TWRP recovery, or apply it manually. If you'd rather apply the package manually, head on over to the source link attached below for full instructions and download files.
As always, there is a chance something can go wrong when installing this mod. ALWAYS make a backup before making any sort of system level changes. We don't want you accidentally bricking your phone for an arguably functionless (though admittedly adorable) change like this.
Is this something you would go through the trouble of installing? If I still had my 6P you know I would be doing this as we speak.
