[Update: Rolling out in India] Realme rolls out stable Realme UI 3.0 to the Realme GT in China

Update (12/29/2021 @ 09:30 ET): The stable Realme UI 3.0 update for the Realme GT is now rolling out in India. Scroll to the bottom for more information. The article as published on December 23, 2021, is preserved below.

After weeks of testing Realme UI 3.0 in the beta channel, Realme has started rolling out the first stable release based on Android 12 to the Realme GT. The update brings all the new features Google introduced in Android 12, along with a couple of unique additions from Realme. At the moment, the stable Realme UI 3.0 update is limited to the Chinese variant of the Realme GT, but we expect the company to release the update for the global variant in the coming days.

As per a recent post on the Realme community forums, the stable update (software version RMX2202_11_C.10) has started rolling out to the Realme GT in China. The update is rolling out in a staged fashion and should reach all devices in the region within the next 15 days. Check the section below for the complete changelog.

At the moment, Realme has not shared any information regarding a global rollout. However, it shouldn’t be long before the update starts rolling out in more regions. Update: Stable Realme UI 3.0 is now rolling out for the Realme GT in India

According to a recent post on the Realme community forums, the stable Realme UI 3.0 update for the Realme GT is now rolling out in India. The update (build number RMX2202_11.C.05) has the following changelog:

  • New design
    • The all-new design, which emphasizes a sense of space, deliver a simple, clean, and comfortable visual and interactive experience.
    • Revamps the page layout based on the principle of reducing visual noise and spacing out elements, and prioritizes information with different colors to make key information stand out.
    • Redesigns icons using new materials to give more depth and a greater sense of space and texture to the icons.
    • Optimizes Quantum Animation Engine: Quantum Animation Engine 3.0 implements the concept of mass to make animations more lifelike, and optimizes more than 300 animations to bring a more natural user experience.
    • More creative Always-On Display: Adds realmeow and Portrait silhouette to let you freely express yourself.
  • Convenience & efficiency
    • FlexDrop is renamed Flexible Windows and is optimized:
      • Optimizes the method of switching floating windows between different sizes.

Realme says that the update is rolling out in a staged fashion and it should reach all users in the region in the next few days.

OPPO Reno 5 and Reno 6 starts receiving stable ColorOS 12 update with Android 12

Back in September, OPPO officially unveiled ColorOS 12, the latest version of the company’s custom Android skin. Since then the Chinese phone maker has rolled out ColorOS 12 beta to several OPPO phones, allowing users to try out an early version of Android 12 ahead of the stable release. including the Find X3 Pro, Find X2 Pro, Reno 6 series, Reno 5 series, and more. Earlier this month, OPPO revealed that it would release stable ColorOS 12 for some of its premium phones later this month. As promised, the company has now started rolling out the stable Android 12 update to the Reno 6 and Reno 5 models.

According to a series of announcements on the OPPO Community, the stable ColorOS 12 update based on Android 12 has started rolling out to the Reno 5 5G, Reno 5 Pro 5G, Reno 6 5G, and Reno 6 Pro 5G.

ColorOS 12 stable availability:

  • OPPO Reno 5 Pro 5G — Saudi Arabia, the UAE
  • OPPO Reno 6 5G —  Indonesia, India, Vietnam

As you can see, the update is currently only live in select regions. However, we expect the company to expand the rollout to more markets soon. In any case, Reno 5 and Reno 6 series owners residing in the above-mentioned markets can look forward to receiving the OTA notification in the coming days. If you want to skip the wait, you can also trigger it manually. To do so, head to Settings > Software Updates > click on the gear icon in the top right corner > tap “Trial Version” and then click on the “Apply now.” You should receive the new update shortly after.

After installing the ColorOS 12 update, Reno 5 and Reno 6 owners can look forward to many exciting features, including a new wallpaper-based theming system, Canvas AOD, Screen Translate, Background Stream, Android 12’s Privacy Dashboard and privacy indicators, and much more. Download the new MIUI 13 wallpapers for your smartphone

The Xiaomi 12 series has just launched with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and with it comes MIUI 13. While MIUI brings a bunch of new features and improvements including some privacy features and a new system font. Not only that though, but there’s a set of new wallpapers too. If you’re not in the market for a new phone but want to give your current daily driver the Xiaomi 12 look, you can now download the MIUI 13 wallpapers from the links below. These wallpapers are extracted from the MIUI 13 firmware.

MIUI 13 wallpapers

MIUI 13 comes with 43 wallpapers, in a mix of resolutions, though the majority come come in at a 2400×1230 resolution. They are divided into five categories: Molten Glass, Crystallization, Concerto, Natural Texture, and Black Gobi. The crystallization wallpapers are made in collaboration with Beauty of Science.

If you like what you see, you can download the uncompressed, full-resolution wallpapers from the link below. These wallpapers can be applied on any device, though you may need to crop them to fit them to your phone’s resolution.

Xiaomi 12 series goes official with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 120W fast charging support

Xiaomi is closing 2021 on a high note with the release of a new flagship lineup. In an event in China today, the company officially took the wraps off of the Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X. The new lineup succeeds the last year’s Mi 11 series and will go head to head against the upcoming 2022 flagships such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 and OnePlus 10. The new phones bring numerous improvements over their predecessors, including a faster SoC, better displays, faster charging speeds, improved camera hardware, and much more.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro is the most powerful of the trio. It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and Dolby Vision support. It also packs Goodix’s new In-display Light Sensor, allowing the phone to automatically adjust the display color temperature across different lighting conditions for a comfortable viewing experience.

The Xiaomi 12 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256G UFS 3.1 flash storage.

On the back, the phone features a triple camera rear setup consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX707 main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP telephoto lens with up to 2x optical zoom. Over on the front, you’ll find a 32MP selfie camera fitted inside the hole-punch cutout. There’s also an AI-powered video recording feature called CyberFocus which the company says will continuously track subjects no matter how they move and “will not lose focus.”

In terms of audio, the phone comes equipped with four-unit stereo speakers consisting of two woofers and two tweeters. Xiaomi says this unique setup delivers stronger bass and clear treble. The phone also has a large 2900mm² vapor chamber, allowing users to play graphics-intensive games for extended periods without inviting thermal throttling.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro packs a 4,600mAh battery that supports up to 120W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. On the software front, the Xiaomi 12 runs MIUI 12.5. It will receive the brand new MIUI 13 update next month.

The Xiaomi 12 is the middling option in the lineup. It retains many of the key aspects of the Pro model but in a smaller package. It sports a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. Just like its bigger brother, the regular Xiaomi 12 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The Xiaomi 12 has a different camera setup compared to the Pro model. It packs a 50MP IMX766 main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a macro lens. Elsewhere, the Xiaomi 12 has a 4,500mAh battery that charges via a 67W fast wired charger. It also supports wireless charging up to 50W and reverse wireless charging up to 10W.

As for the Xiaomi 12X, it’s pretty identical to the Xiaomi 12 in most regards, except that it’s powered by the Snapdragon 870 SoC.

Pricing & Availability

The Xiaomi 12 series is launching first in China. Pre-orders will open up on December 30, with official sales kicking off next month. Color options include black, purple, blue, and green. There’s no word on the subsequent international launch of the new lineup.
