Razer laptops are up to $800 off for Intel Gamer Days

Intel’s Gamer Days event is back, and with it come some big discounts on PC gaming hardware. Razer is one of the companies participating in the Intel Gamer Days event, offering many of its Blade laptops with big discounts. The discounts go as high as $800, allowing you to save quite a bit of money on some high-end hardware.

Start with the Razer Blade 15 Base, two models are being discounted. You can get this laptop with a Full HD 120Hz display, an Intel Core i7-10750H processor, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of SSD storage, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti for $1,299. That’s a $200 discount from its usual price, but that’s just the official discount. Looking at Amazon’s page right now, there’s actually a $350 discount, making it just $1,048. Sure, it’s still using Intel’s 10th-generation processors, but this is still a very powerful machine, and the discount makes it that much more appealing.

Razer Blade 15 Base (GTX 1660 Ti)
With an Intel Core i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce 1660 Ti graphics, and 16GB of RAM, this gaming laptop is sure to provide a solig gaming experience at a reasonable price. It also has a 120Hz display.

If you want more power, you can upgrade to a 4K OLED (60Hz) display, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, and 512GB of storage for $1,699, and this is $600 off its regular price. That makes this upgrade far more compelling, and you’ll have plenty of power for gaming this way. Not only that, but Amazon actually seems to be offering a much higher discount than the official value, bringing this all the way down to $1,399.99. That’s $900 off.

Razer Blade 15 Base (RTX 2070)
With an Intel Core i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics, and 16GB of RAM, you'll be able to play almost any game you want on this laptop. And with a 4K OLED display, those games will look stellar, too.

Moving on to the Razer Blade 15 Advanced, this is an even more powerful laptop. You get an Intel Core i7-10875H processor and 16GB of RAM, along with your choice of three different configurations. The first configuration has a Full HD 300Hz display, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super GPU, and 512GB of SSD storage. Officially, this is $800 off, bringing it from $2,599 to $1,800. However, Amazon is adding an extra $100 right now, making it just $1,699.99.

Another configuration being discounted upgrades to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super and 1TB of storage, but otherwise, it’s the same. Razer’s official discount gets you $500 off, from $2,999 to $2,499. Again, Amazon is discounting it even further to $2,199.99, for a total of $800 off. Finally, you can also get the Razer Blade 15 Advanced with a 4K OLED display. Officially, this is being discounted from $3,299 to $2,999, but Amazon actually has it listed for $2,699 right now.

    Super sharp

Swapping the Full HD 300Hz display for a 4K OLED panel, this version of the Razer Blade 15 Advanced is just as powerful, but now offers incredibly sharp images and displays stunning colors.

This model comes with an Intel Core i7-10875H processor, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 graphics, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. It also has a 4K OLED panel, ideal for editing video or photos. Officially, this model is $500 off, going from $4,299.99 to $3,799.99. Amazon is currently selling it for $3,399, however, making it a whopping $900 cheaper than its usual price.

The Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition packs powerful specs, including an Intel Core i7-10875H and NVIDIA Qadro RTX 5000 graphics, ideal for content creation. It also has a 4K OLED display so everything looks sharp and vibrant.

Finally, for those who need the biggest displays possible, the Razer Blade 17 Pro is also seeing a big discount. This laptop has a 17-inch Full HD 300Hz display, and it’s powered by an Intel Core i7-10875H processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Its official retail price is $3,199, but Razer is offering an $800 discount that brings it down to $2,399. And Amazon is going even further with an extra $150 off, making it $2,249.

    Razer Blade 17 Pro

In addition to these direct discounts on the laptops, Razer is also offering two games along with the purchase of any of these models. During the Intel Gamer Days sale, you’ll get download codes for Humankind and Crysis Remastered Trilogy. Razer’s Intel Gamer Days sale will last through September 5. Keep in mind that Amazon’s discounts may vary during this period, so they might not always be lower than Razer’s official discount. If you’re wondering, all of these laptops will be updatable to Windows 11 once the upgrade is available later this year.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case is a $39 must-have if you buy Samsung’s new flip

I’m going to preface this entire article with one necessary statement — I hate cases. I’ve used the original Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 without a case, although I put an Aramid back cover on the latter just for style and a kickstand. My iPhone 12 Pro Max was naked for seven months until I had to go to the Apple Store after dropping it one too many times. I hate cases, which makes this article all the more stranger.

Because whilst I hate cases, I absolutely love the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case. It’s the first time I think Samsung has absolutely nailed a case and it’s the type of thing I would recommend for absolutely every Galaxy Z Flip 3 owner. If this isn’t for you, however, you can check out our roundup of the best Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case is an absolute must-buy for anyone who pre-orders the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It adds grip, lets you use your phone in more ways and adds great style. Check out the Navy color for my personal favorite.

Why should every Galaxy Z Flip 3 owner consider this case? That’s what this case review is for. Don’t forget to read my Galaxy Z Flip 3 Review for more on my time with the phone so far.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case: What I like

Official Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases

I’ve used this case for the past three days but also spent an hour with it when previewing Samsung’s Unpacked announcements, including the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Buds 2, and Galaxy Watch 4. During the preview, I thought the cases were really well designed but ultimately not something I’d buy. However, this ring case improves two small parts of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 experience in a big way.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case is the perfect combination of pop socket and case

The first is grip. I have the Phantom Black Galaxy Z Flip 3 and while I’m more than able to keep it secured with one hand, it does sometimes still create that heart-in-mouth moment where you think it’s about to be dropped. I never dropped the original Flip but did drop the original Fold a couple of times.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case completely transforms this part of the experience. Instead of having to reach over to the end of the other phone and try and grip the phone while also typing or swiping away, you can just hook your finger in the ring. That’s not just in portrait mode; in landscape mode, it’s the same experience. Instead of relying on everyone to use the phone one specific way, it means you can use whichever finger and hold the phone however you want. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case is basically the perfect combination of pop socket and case.

The other is protection. Although the main Display is protected when the phone is closed, there’s still that fear you’ll break it somehow. I accidentally dropped my Galaxy Z Flip 3 with this case on from about three feet onto a laminate wood floor and the only way you’d know is if you were reading this article.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case: What I Don’t Like

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 with lavender case

Honestly, there’s not much I don’t like about the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case. Being rather picky, I’d say it’s annoying it doesn’t protect the hinge when it’s folded. But it protects the back in full when opened so it’s a good trade-off. Similarly, it’s a tad on the thick side but this is a necessary trade-off to ensure there’s enough protection.

On occasion, if I’m using the phone for more than 30 minutes straight – like right now, as I’m writing this review in Word on the phone itself – my hand does cramp up a little but everyone will react differently here. The matte finish does a good job at not attracting too many fingerprints, although they may be far more noticeable if you pick a darker color case. The material does attract a little bit of lint when in your pocket, but it’s definitely improved over Samsung’s previous silicon case offerings.

Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case: Should You Buy It?

The type of case I'll buy for my mum and sister

The title of this review basically answers this — yes. This case costs $39 and is a worthwhile purchase for every Galaxy Z Flip 3 owner. It’s the type of case I will buy for my mum and sister when I buy them the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The best part is you can remove the ring and use it as a normal case, but I think the ring is definitely a key part of the appeal of this case.

The range of colors also appeals to me. If you have a Black phone or any other color, you can buy cases that either contrast or color match with your phone, allowing you to create that experience that’s unique to you. The best color is the Galaxy Z Flip 3 Ring Case in Navy, but the Lavender one I have comes a very close second!

Is it the only case you should buy? No, there’s plenty of other Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases worth buying and I’m testing several of them but this is definitely my favorite so far and likely the one I’ll end up keeping on my Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Want to know what’s new in Chrome? Google will soon make that easier

Google Chrome routinely gets updated with new features and improvements. While some changes are easily noticeable, such as revamped profiles, for example, some tend to be subtle. Given the pace at which Google rolls out new changes to Chrome, it might be hard for many users to stay up to date with various improvements and features that get added with each new major release. Google is aware of this, and to make it easier for users to discover the latest features and changes introduced in Chrome, a dedicated “What’s New in Chrome” page will soon be added in the browser.

This new page will showcase (via Chrome Unboxed) the newly added Chrome features. In addition, it will also show tips and demonstrations on how to get started using various features to get the most out of them.

What's new in Chrome page

The What’s New in Chrome” page is currently available in the latest build of Chrome Canary. However, it’s hidden behind a flag. To enable it, paste this URL into Chrome’s address bar chrome://flags/#chrome-whats-new-ui and set it to “Enabled.” Make sure you restart the browser after that. The page is located at https://whats-new/, but you can’t access it on the stable version.

Chrome flag for enabling "Whats's new Chrome" page

Once that is done, click on the three-dot menu located in the upper right corner, select Help, and you should see the “What’s new” page appear right under About Chrome.

Chrome's context menu showing What's new page

The page currently shows information about the newly released Tab Search feature, the revamped profile picker, and tips on customizing Chrome’s look and feel using backgrounds and colors. Google already has a similar page for Chromebooks called “What’s new with Chromebook? which shows a highlight of new features introduced in recent updates.

What’s new Chrome page is currently only available in Chrome Canary on PC. We don’t know when it will arrive on the stable version of Chrome. If you want to try it out, you can download the latest version of Chrome Canary.

Download: Xiaomi tests first MIUI 12 beta with Android 12 for the Mi 11

Android 12 recently reached Beta 4.1 as a bug fix release over the Beta 4 release that finalized the platform APIs and app facing behaviors. This year, OEMs did join the party, but we saw their presence only around the initial release through unskinnned, vanilla Android builds, with most choosing to not release further builds based off the Android 12 Beta. As we inch closer to the public release of Android 12, we’re now seeing OEMs test out their skinned releases of Android 12. Xiaomi is rejoining the Android 12 party, this time with MIUI 12 in tow, as it tests its first MIUI 12 beta with Android 12 for the Mi 11.

Xiaomi has now released MIUI 12 beta (China only) with Android 12 as the base for the Mi 11. Remember that this is a closed beta build targeting the Chinese variants of the Mi 11, so you won’t find Google Play Services or any pre-installed Google apps inside them. Compared to the Android 11-based MIUI 12/MIUI 12.5 builds, some features might be incomplete or missing altogether in this Android 12-based build. Lastly, the language options are very likely limited to Chinese and English only.

Warning: The builds linked below are strictly meant for developers only. They are likely to be very unstable for daily usage scenarios. Users are advised to exercise caution before flashing. Xiaomi has also not yet detailed any rollback procedures to downgrade.

The update packages are regular recovery flashable ZIP files, but an authorized Mi Account for Beta testers is still required to sideload them. The restriction can theoretically be bypassed by flashing via TWRP. Transitioning from one major Android version to another is an utterly complex process, so it is highly recommended that you back up your data before proceeding.

Xiaomi Mi 11 XDA Forums

It’s not yet clear if other devices in the Mi 11 family will also receive these Android 12-based builds in the coming days. The unskinned Android 12 Beta was made available to the Mi 11 Ultra (star), and the Mi 11i/Mi 11X Pro/Redmi K40 Pro (haydn), so we’re hoping for builds for those to show up too. As is the case with Xiaomi smartphones, the base version of Android does not matter as much as the top version of MIUI, so users are unlikely to see any noticeable changes right away. We’ll test the build soon and bring out the features.

Thanks to XDA Members @kacskrz and @yshalsager for the download link!

OPPO may unveil ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 in a few weeks

With the final release of Android 12 fast approaching, major smartphone OEMs are gearing up to bring the next major release of Android to their smartphones. As usual, Google’s Pixel lineup will be the first to get a taste of the new software. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if some OEMs announce the release of Android 12 for their top flagship on the same day as Google. It looks like OPPO could be one of the first to release the new version of its custom skin based on Android 12.

OPPO has been working on Android 12 for some time now. In May, the company rolled out an Android 12 beta for the OPPO Find X3, though it wasn’t based on ColorOS 12. While OPPO hasn’t revealed an official date for the ColorOS 12 rollout, a fresh leak (via GSMArena) has now revealed that OPPO might unveil the next major version of its custom skin as soon as next month.

OPPO's Breeno voice assistant showing a message in Chinese

The news was confirmed by OPPO’s digital assistant Breeno (only available on Chinese models). When a Weibo user asked the voice assistant when OPPO was going to launch ColorOS 12, it replied that “ColorOS 12 is coming” and will be released on September 13 at 3:00 AM Eastern Time. Since the news started making rounds on the internet, OPPO removed that response. Instead, the assistant now replies with, “to be revealed soon, please stay tuned.”

If this leak is indeed true, it would mean that the public release of Android 12 is only a few weeks away. It’s possible OPPO’s ColorOS 12 announcement might take place on the same day as Google. Either way, with the leaked date just two weeks away at this point, we won’t have to wait long.

Apart from OPPO, Samsung is another major OEM that plans to release a beta of Android 12 next month. We should be hearing about more releases soon.
