Samsung Galaxy M32 with 6,000mAh battery, 64MP camera launched in India

Samsung today launched the Galaxy M32 in India, featuring some significant upgrades over the Galaxy M31s from last year. The new phone packs a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, an updated SoC, and a refreshed design. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest budget phone from Samsung.

The Samsung Galaxy M32 features an updated design, with a square camera module in the top left corner and an Infinity-U display over on the front. Although I’m not a fan of Samsung’s decision to revert back to an Infinity-U display, I do appreciate the fact that it now offers 90Hz refresh rate support. The FHD+ Super AMOLED panel is slightly smaller than the one on last year’s model, measuring 6.4-inch diagonally. However, it now offers a better peak brightness of 800nits, compared to 420nits on the Galaxy M31s.

On the inside, the Galaxy M32 packs MediaTek’s Helio G80 SoC, which features an ARM Mali G52 GPU. It’s paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. In the camera department, the phone packs a 64MP primary camera, which is hard to come by on a device in this price category. It’s paired with an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. Over on the front, the phone features a 20MP selfie shooter.

Samsung has retained the massive 6,000mAh battery on the new model, and it still supports 25W fast charging. Sadly though, the phone comes with a 15W charger in the box, so you’ll have to purchase a 25W fast charger separately. In terms of connectivity, the Galaxy M32 features a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth support. It even features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. On the software front, the Galaxy M32 runs OneUI 3.1 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Pricing & Availability

The Samsung Galaxy M32 is priced at ₹14,999 for the 4GB+64GB base variant and ₹16,999 for the 6GB+128GB model. The phone will be available in two colors — Black and Light Blue — and it will go on sale via Amazon.in, Samsung, and key retail stores starting June 28th. Early buyers will be able to get their hands on the device for as low as ₹13,749 and ₹15,749 using ICICI bank credit and debit cards.

Colorful iGAME KUDAN is the most expensive GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card

PC hardware manufacturer Colorful has announced a limited edition NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card. The new iGAME KUDAN is the most advanced and premium GPU offering from the company featuring a hybrid cooling thermal design that includes air cooling and liquid cooling. A total of 1000 units of the graphics card will be made, each priced at an eye-watering $4,999.

The iGAME KUDAN GeForce RTX 3090 comes with a CNC machined aluminum shroud with black, silver, and gold aesthetics and unique gears for a steampunk-inspired design. It is a beefy GPU with a triple-slot design and a triple-fan cooling system. The hard shell packaging comes with the GPU, a radiator, and several accessories, including a screwdriver, keycaps, and a graphics card holder.

As mentioned, the graphics card features a hybrid cooling system that includes both air-cooling and water-cooling. The air cooling system includes three 90mm fans placed on top of a heatsink with six 6mm heat pipes. The GPU includes quick-release inlet and outlet fittings to attach the included 240mm radiator, which features a pump and hardline tubes. This system is optional as the GPU can operate using the air cooling system. However, if you wish to push the limits, the liquid cooling system is fairly easy to install as the Swiss-made high-quality fittings can be rotated 360° for easier mounting. The GPU also features a side-mounted customizable LED display.

The RTX 3090 on the iGAME KUDAN comes with 10,496 CUDA cores with 24GB of GDDR6X and runs at clock speeds of 1395MHz/1695 MHz (base/boost) frequencies. The company’s signature one-key overclocking solution for extreme performance pushes the clock speeds to 1860MHz. The card uses three 8-pin PCIe power connectors and is rated for a maximum power draw of 500W when overclocked. That means you need at least a 1200W-1500W power solution to unlock the full potential of this massive graphics card.

Phone-to-PC screen mirroring tool ‘scrcpy’ now supports devices running Android 12

The Android Debug Bridge, or ADB for short, is an immensely useful tool for developers that want to read system logs, change settings, or automate actions on their device. Google intended to only provide a command line interface when they made ADB, but in early March of 2018, a developer built a tool on top of ADB that lets you not only mirror the screen of your Android phone but also remotely control it from your PC. That tool is called scrcpy, and its latest update adds support for devices running Android 12.

For those of you who aren’t familiar, scrcpy (short for “screen copy“) consists of two components: a server app that’s pushed to the Android device and a client on the PC that communicates with the server via a socket over an ADB tunnel. Your phone’s screen is encoded as an h.264 video which is decoded and displayed on your PC by the scrcpy client. Keyboard and mouse inputs are sent to the server and translated to appropriate inputs on the device. While scrcpy isn’t the only remote control/screen mirroring tool out there, it’s one of the best because it’s free, open source, customizable, and fast.

Before the Android 12 update, scrcpy defaulted to creating a “secure display” in order to support mirroring content that was otherwise blocked. However, Android 12 no longer allows a process with shell permissions to create a secure display, causing scrcpy to immediately crash if the user attempted to launch it on a device running Android 12. The fix is simple: Rebuild the Android server so that it creates a non-secure display.

Another major addition to scrcpy is the ability to use the video stream as a webcam on Linux. The tool has added v4l2loopback (Video 4 Linux loopback) support, enabling the video stream to be opened by V4L2-capable software like OBS. The video stream can be exposed as a webcam and/or displayed in a window.

Other features added in scrcpy’s v1.18 update include the ability to lock the video orientation to the device’s initial orientation, power off the device when scrcpy is closed, new shortcuts for the 4th and 5th buttons, automatically resize the window to remove black borders, and saving files in /sdcard/Download instead of /sdcard.

Tip: You can pinch-to-zoom in Google Messages to resize text

Even if you use the Google Messages app a lot, you may not be aware that it added a nifty feature somewhat recently: the ability to resize text in a conversation!

Over on the /r/AndroidApps subreddit, Redditor user01401 discovered that the Messages app for Android now supports text resizing in conversations using a simple pinch-to-zoom gesture. If you’ve ever resized text in a web browser like Google Chrome before, then you probably already know what this looks like. If not, here’s a screen recording I shared on Twitter:

Note that resizing text in a conversation doesn’t actually change the font size of the messages you send, so any changes to the text size you make will only be reflected on your end. If you have poor eyesight or just don’t want to strain your eyes reading tiny text, then you’ll get a lot of use out of this pinch-to-zoom gesture in the Google Messages app.

This feature seems to have rolled out for everyone and isn’t tied to a server-side flag like the ability to pin conversations or categorize messages. Based on replies to my Twitter post, however, it seems this feature isn’t available on versions below 8.X. Be sure you’re on an up-to-date version of the app if you want to use this pinch-to-zoom gesture.
