OnePlus Day this week gives you first access to the Steven Harrington Buds Z

Happy OnePlus Day! Well, kind of. OnePlus’s Dashing Deals Event has begun, and like any good OnePlus sale, you can save big on smartphones and earbuds today. The sales this week revolve around buying an item and getting a second for significantly cheaper–perfect for holiday gifts! Granted, it’s too close to Christmas to get these items shipped in time for the holiday, but who says you can’t give late gifts? The real star of this OnePlus Day, though, is the release of a special edition of the OnePlus Buds Z.

At 11 AM EST (about forty-five minutes after this post goes live), the Steven Harrington x OnePlus Buds Z “Cool Cat” will go on sale to the public. That’s a bit of a mouthful, but instead of worrying about the name, check the buds out! These special edition Buds Z come in pastel green and purple, with Steven Harrington’s designs all over the earbuds and matching charging case. They look really neat! On top of that, the OnePlus Buds Z are pretty nice pieces of tech, too. You’re not just paying for a special coat of paint, as these earbuds work great.

If you’re not in the market for a special pair of OnePlus Buds Z, there is still plenty for you to enjoy with this OnePlus sale. From now until the 31st, if you buy the OnePlus 8T, you can pick up the OnePlus 7T for just $99. That’s an incredible deal, and the 7T is still a very viable phone! Most consumers don’t need to be on the bleeding edge of technology, and the 7T definitely gets the job done.

Also, if you pick up a pair of OnePlus Buds Z, you’ll be able to grab a pair of Bullets Wireless Z for just $10. While I don’t believe this deal includes the special edition Buds Z releasing later, it’s worth a try if you’re picking them up anyway!

Head on over to the OnePlus Day page to see everything on offer!

    OnePlus Dashing Deals Sale
From special edition OnePlus Buds Z to massive discounts, OnePlus's Dashing Deals Sale is the perfect holiday celebration. Check out all the deals at the OnePlus Day page--some of them end today!

Some of the deals are only available until the end of the day, while others are set to be live until the 31st. These OnePlus deals are known to sell out, though, so don’t wait too long!

Amazon Echo Show can now stream movies and shows from Netflix

Amazon has announced the availability of Netflix on the Echo Show. According to the company’s announcement, users can now watch their favorite movies and TV shows from the streaming service and expect some new video features on the device as well. This is similar to what Amazon offered last year where it allowed users to stream content from Prime Video right on to their Alexa equipped smart display.

Currently, owners of the Echo Show have access to video services like Prime Video, Hulu, NBC, and more. The addition of Netflix should be available on the first and second-generation Echo Show as well as the Echo Show 5, and Echo Show 8. Users will now be able to search, browse, pause, resume, and stream movies or TV shows available on Netflix. Since the Echo Show comes with Alexa built-in, users will be able to give voice commands for a hands-free experience. For instance, you can call out and say “Alexa, show me horror movies on Netflix” or “Alexa, find comedy movies on Netflix.”

Additionally, Amazon has also introduced new video features to enhance the user experience. There will be a new video home page that would provide customized recommendations for what to watch next. By saying “Alexa, open video home” you will get to see all your recommended videos including TV shows and movies. The new video detail pages will also offer information on the selected series or movie at a glance.

Amazon is a bit late to the party as Google enabled support for Netflix on its range of smart displays back in July. Notably, Google does offer a wider range of video streaming apps including Netflix, NBC Peacock, HBO Max, Disney+, CBS All Access, Sling TV, Hulu, SHOWTIME, and more. Nevertheless, it is great to finally have the feature at hand, and hopefully, we can expect more services to be added to the list soon. Amazon also recently added the ability to initiate one-command group calls.

Samsung opens an Android 11 beta with One UI 3.0 for the Galaxy M31

Back in October, Samsung kicked off the One UI 3.0 beta program for its flagship Galaxy S20 series. The update brought all the new features introduced in Android 11 to the devices, along with some minor improvements to Samsung’s own Android skin. Shortly thereafter, the program was extended to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Z Flip 5G, S10, and Note 10 series. And now, after the update started rolling out to a number of devices via stable channel, the Galaxy M31 has made it to the beta-list, making it the first mid-range Samsung smartphone to get a taste of Android 11.

Do note that participation in the program requires a Samsung account, which you can create by heading over to this website. We hope that the Galaxy M31 beta program will be extended to a few other regions, albeit we don’t have any information on the release timeline for the same.

FCC docs confirm Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will support S Pen

The hype around Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S21 series is real. Thanks to a steady stream of leaks over the past few months, we know pretty much everything there’s to know about the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra, including their specifications and probable pricing. We have also been hearing rumors that Samsung might do away with the Galaxy Note series altogether, giving way for the Galaxy S and the new Galaxy Fold series to lead the charge.

To that end, reports have also been pointing at Samsung bringing one of the most defining aspects of the Galaxy Note series to the Galaxy 20 Ultra: S Pen support. This was later backed up by Dr. TM Roh, Samsung’s Head of Mobile Communications, when he hinted that the company would “add some of its most well-loved Galaxy features ” to other Galaxy phones. Now, an FCC filing (via Android Authority) has revealed that the Galaxy 21 Ultra (model number SMG998B) will indeed support S Pen. As per the listing, the phone will also offer the Hover feature similar to the Galaxy Note series, allowing users to display a pointer or preview text/images by simply holding the S pen over the screen.

Galaxy S21 Ultra S Pen FCC

The S Pen likely won’t be part of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s in-box contents and will be sold separately, as per the previous reports. There also won’t be a cavity within the device to hold the S Pen but Samsung will offer some special cases which will let you store the stylus.

Samsung Galaxy S21 XDA Forums

Apart from S Pen support, the FCC filing has confirmed the Galaxy S21 Ultra will boast Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) functionality, NFC, reverse wireless charging, and Wi-Fi 6E. As a quick recap, the Galaxy S21 Ultra will be the most feature-packed smartphone in the Galaxy S21 series, packing a 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED curved display, quad cameras, Exynos 2100 or Snapdragon 888 chipset, up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.

The GPD Win 3 is the handheld gaming PC we’ve been waiting for

If you are in the market for a portable console, then you have to check out the GPD Win 3. It is said to be the world’s first Windows 10 slider bar handheld game console, and honestly, this is one gadget that cannot be ignored. At $799, the Win 3 is one of the most feature-packed consoles we’ve seen in recent times and will soon be going live on Indiegogo as a crowdfunded project.

The Win 3 handheld console is powered by the latest 11th-gen Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor which includes four cores, eight threads, and the new Intel Xe GPU that has 80 Execution Units (EU). For an extra $100, you can bump up to an Intel Core i7-1165G7 that has a 96 EU Intel Xe GPU which should be slightly more powerful. That’s not all, both the models come with 16GB of LPDDR4-4266 RAM and a 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD. Since the device is rocking the latest 11th-gen Intel processors, there is support for PCIe 4.0 drives in case you want super-fast faster read and write speeds. The IPS display measures at 5.5-inches with a 720p resolution, which seems fair.

The company claims that users can expect 60fps+ on a variety of latest AAA-titles on default graphics settings. To prove their claims, the company has put up videos of the console running games like GTA V and Monster Hunter World running just below 50fps at high settings while Battlefield 1 and Borderlands 3 going over 60fps, though we would advise keeping your expectations a little low for Cyberpunk 2077. To take care of thermals, there is a PWM cooling fan on the inside along with dual heat pipes. Depending on the model you choose, the TDP can be custom set by entering the BIOS. These include three options: 15-18W, 18-22W, 22-28W.

GDP Win 3 console features

The GPD Win 3 is shaped like a modern handheld console with the screen sitting in the center flanked by two joysticks on each side along with a variety of buttons all around. The screen slides up to reveal a white backlit QWERTY touch keyboard, which should make it easier to input text, especially since it is running Windows 10. It also comes with a variety of extra features that you might not see on a handheld console including a fingerprint scanner unlock key, a Windows-compatible Xbox key, a USB Type-A port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, L1-L2/R1-R2 shoulder buttons, L3/R3 rear buttons, dual vibration motors, and a gamepad/mouse switch key. Other standard features include a USB Type-C port with Thunderbolt 4, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and 65W fast charging. There is also an external dock that expands the connectivity by adding a wired ethernet port, HDMI, and more USB Type-A and Type-C ports. This way you can hook it up to an external monitor and use it as a desktop.

The Win 3 is yet to go live on Indiegogo but a preview page of the product is already live and can be accessed over here. It is definitely one of the most unique gadgets we have seen in a while as you don’t really expect a mini-PC to be touted as a handheld gaming console. Still, we would love to see the capabilities of this machine in real life. Considering its compact nature, the GPD Win 3 could turn out to be a solid competitor to the Nintendo Switch if they manage to achieve scale. Do keep in mind that it is a crowdfunded project, and all the standard caveats for the same apply here as well.

Telegram’s latest update brings along Voice Chats, co-existing alongside Group Calls

After receiving new search filters, anonymous admins for groups, channel comments, distance alerts on live locations, and many more features in October this year, Telegram is now getting another major update that brings a new Voice Chats feature to the instant messenger. The new Voice Chats feature works a lot like voice channels on apps like Discord, and it offers users a persistent conference call that they can join or leave as they please.

According to a recent blog post from Telegram, following the latest update users will be able to convert any Telegram group into a voice chat room. These Voice Chats will run parallel to existing text and media-based communication, giving group members the option to quickly jump in and out of a conversation as the need arises.

Telegram Voice Chats GIF

While the new Voice Chats may sound like Telegram’s existing group calls feature, it offers much more flexibility than the latter. Joining Voice Chats is also much simpler, as groups with an active voice chat show a special bar at the top with a Join button that lets you participate in the voice chat with a single tap. The aforementioned bar also shows the profile pictures of users currently in the voice chat, along with a counter showing the total number of active participants.

Voice Chats top bar

Once you join a Voice Chat, you also get the freedom to navigate around the app, browse conversations, and send messages without any issues. You also get quick access to microphone controls, so that you can mute or unmute yourself at any time without having to navigate back to the voice chat. Furthermore, if you’re on Android, you also get access to a system-wide floating widget that gives you quick access to mic controls and an overview of active participants, even when Telegram is running in the background.

Voice Chats overlay

The blog post further notes that Telegram’s new Voice Chat feature can accommodate “a few thousand participants,” which opens up a host of new possibilities. If you’re a group admin and you wish to try out Voice Chats with other members, you can enable it in your group by tapping on the three-dot menu icon and selecting the new Start Voice Chat option. It’s also worth noting that if you’re using Telegram’s desktop client, you’ll also get access to a push-to-talk setting for voice chats.

Voice chats push-to-talk

Along with the new Voice Chats feature, the latest update for Telegram brings a minor update for animated stickers which should improve loading times, support for SD card storage on Android devices, a couple of new animations on Android, improvements for the media editor, and support for more animated emoji. You can download the latest Telegram update by following the Play Store link below. Alternatively, you can download the APk from APKMirror by following this link.
