Each table is currently available from within the main Zen Pinball app for $1.99 each, but there will be a standalone Bethesda Pinball game that will launch in the near future. The Doom table is based on the revamped first person shooter from developer id Software that launched earlier this year for PC and consoles. It lets players battle demons on Mars while flipping the ball through its paces. The Fallout table is based on the long-running post-apocalypse RPG series, with players able to raid Vaults and much more.

Finally, the Skyrim table is based on the latest entry in the Elder Scrolls fantasy RPG series. It actually features ways for players to do things like craft weapons, cast magic spells and go on side quests. Yes, all that and more is in a pinball game. All three tables have features like leaderboards, score tracking, and social features so you can keep up with your friends.

Which table do you plan to play the most in this release?

LeEco planning major business changes as financial woes continue

Things seem to be going from "bad" to "worse" for China-based smartphone and smart TV company LeEco. The company decided to halt trading of its shares this week, after rumors that its falling stock price had triggered margin calls on funds borrowed by the LeEco's billionaire founder Jia Yueting.

In a statement sent to The Wall Street Journal, a LeEco spokesperson stated that it is currently investigating why its stock price had dropped close to eight percent on Tuesday, and thus made the decision to halt trading. The spokesperson added that the company is "in the process of planning major matters, which are expected to involve integration of industry resources." Exactly what types of changes are in the works are currently unknown.

Less than two months ago, LeEco was holding a big press conference in San Francisco, announcing its official launch of products in the US. That included its Le Pro3 and Le S3 Android smartphones. However, the press conference was an odd affair, full of unconnected buzzwords and demos of products like an Android-based bicycle that may now never come to market.

Since then, rumors about the company's financial issues have continued, even though LeEco announced it had raised $600 million in new financing. Last week, sales of its phones began in the US at its own LeMall website, along with Amazon, Target and Best Buy. However, the company could decide to make an early exit from the US market as part of its upcoming changes.

Google also confirmed what we learned in late November; the Moto Z and Moto Z Force have now been updated with Android 7.0 Nougat and support for the Daydream View headset, alongside the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.

Finally, the company noted that a number of new Daydream VR apps are now available to download in the Google Play Store.  They include the previously announced figure building game LEGO Brickheadz, the space shooter Gunjack 2: End of Shift, and the HBO Go and HBO Now apps, which will allow subscribers of the pay TV channel to view its movie and TV library on a virtual big screen. Other Daydream VR games that are currently available include Layers of Fear: Solitude, Wands and Underworld Overlord.

Google also announced that two more Daydream VR apps will be released sometime in December. One is the EA racing game Need for Speed: No Limits VR and the other is the Netflix VR app, which again will let subscribers check out its thousands of movies and TV shows as if they were watching them on a huge screen.

Deal: lifetime ZenVPN subscription 95% off

The AAPicks team writes about things we think you'll like, and we may see a share of revenue from any purchases made through affiliate links.

zenvpnzenvpn

Last week, we found a deal for Getflix, a service that lets you access different regions' video streaming services. Some readers responded that a better service was ZenVPN, which isn't restricted to just video streaming.

In light of this, we decided to keep an eye on ZenVPN and see if we could find it at a discount rate. Low and behold, the VPN gods have smiled upon us, because lifetime subscriptions are going for 95% off from now through Monday.

ZenVPN protects your private information while you're using public wifi connections. You can also use it to mask your browsing from prying entities like hackers or government. By making your computer appear as though it's located in a different region, you'll also gain access to that region's Netflix and Hulu content. Pretty damn nice.

ZenVPN in a Glance

ZenVPN normally has a pay-by-the-month model, but you can choose to fork over big bucks to gain lifetime access to the tune of $1000. However, this deal gives you the same lifetime access for just $45.

For comparison, PureVPN's lifetime access – which is also on sale at 88% off – will still cost you $70.

Developers can now write apps for the Assistant on Google Home

Google Assistant will be getting a lot more useful starting today. The digital voice assistant that's available in the new Google Home connected speaker is now open to third-party app developers.

Specifically, the developer platform for Google Assistant, Actions on Google, is now allowing developers to create conversation actions that can be used by Google Home owners. The platform has been designed so that developers don't have to make users enable a skill, like on Amazon's Alexa platform. All the user will have to is begin a normal conversation with the connected speaker to initialize the specific app.

Many companies are already working on apps with the Actions on Google platform, including CNBC, Yahoo Fantasy, BuzzFeed, Dominos and more. Google plans to extend this developer platform for Google Assistant to the Pixel phones as well as the company's Allo app.  Future plans call for apps that can be used for purchases and bookings via the platform.

It will be very interesting to see just what types of apps and conversations will be made available with the Google Assistant developer platform. What would you like to see your Google Home do for you with these apps?

Cortana for Android gets a refreshed look as it makes its UK debut

cortana-android-new-look

cortana-android-new-look

It's been nearly a year since Microsoft officially launched the Android version of its Cortana digital assistant. Today, the company revealed that the app is finally available in the UK. At the same time, it will roll out an update this week that will give Cortana a fresh new look.

The revamped UI for the Android app includes what Microsoft is calling "Quick Actions". Basically, Cortana now shows a number of features that can be called upon with one tap of the finger, in case you don't want to use its voice features. These kinds of actions are available for things like showing the current weather forecast, the latest meeting schedule, a quick look at the most recent news and more. Quick Actions also allows users to set up new reminders, again with just one tap.

In addition, when you need Cortana to answer a question, such as, "What's the weather going to be like tomorrow?", the Android version will now display that info on the screen in full page view, with a much cleaner look compared to earlier versions. Finally, Microsoft says it has made some changes under the hood, which will offer a faster overall performance for the app.

Overall, it sounds like Microsoft is still very interested in extending its Cortana assistant to as many platforms and markets as it can. You can grab the latest version now from the Google Play Store at the link below. Do you use the Android version of the app for your daily reminders and schedules?
