OnePlus is not wasting any time offering its hardcore fans some deep access to its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 3T. The company has gone ahead and released both the device trees and the kernel sources for its phone, several days before it officially goes on sale on Nov. 22.

While the company released both the device trees and kernel sources for the older OnePlus 3 on its launch day (which has since been discontinued), it made the decision to go ahead and get that code ready for fans well ahead of the OnePlus 3T launch. They are now available to download at the OnePlus GitHub page, and we would expect that modders are already going through the code to see what secrets they can find and what changes they can make before the phone drops next week.

Just a reminder: The OnePlus 3T has a Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 821 processor inside, clocked at 2.35GHz, along with 6GB of RAM, storage options of either 64GB or 128GB, a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, 16MP cameras for both the front and rear, and a 3,400mAh battery. The Gunmetal color version will launch first, with pricing at USD $439 for the 64GB model and USD $479 for the 128GB version. A Soft Gold edition of the phone will go on sale in the near future.

Deal: lifetime of 1TB Zoolz cloud storage for 98% off

zoolz-storage-dealzoolz-storage-deal

Remember the days of emailing yourself documents or hauling around USB sticks that practically lose themselves? It's a new era now, and it seems like just about everything is on the cloud. However, Dropboxes and Google Drives are filling up quick, and people are starting to seek out more online buckets to offload their growing trove of digital keepsakes. And right now, one of the cheapest options looks to be Zoolz Cloud Storage.

Zoolz is a company that offers storage options that primarily target home users, so this might not be the best option for your small business. However, if you and your family need an extra terabyte of storage from now until forever, it's definitely a solid pick.

Normally, Zoolz charges $39.99 per year for 500GB of storage. However, right now they're running a sale that gives you twice as much storage for the rest of your natural born life at the same price. Since 1TB service from Zoolz usually goes for $69.99 per year, and a lifetime subscription clocks in at a weighty $3,600, that means you're getting roughly 98 percent off in this deal. Not too shabby!

1TB service from Zoolz usually goes for $69.99 per year

Your storage under this service is divided in half: 500GB of instant storage, and 500GB of cold storage. Toss files you won't need for a while into the deep freeze, and keep those that you need frequent access to in the Instant Vault (the difference is that content put into cold storage can take 3-5 hours to access). All data stored in either method is encrypted with military grade 256-AES encryption, and you can access your files from essentially anywhere.

Another cool perk is that if you refer a friend, you'll get a cool $10 on the house. Icing on the cake. Click the button below to get more information about this deal and see if Zoolz cloud storage is the right pick for you! Offer ends November 20.

Yesterday OnePlus announced a souped up version of its flagship, dubbed the OnePlus 3T. At the time of announcement, it was unclear if the original OnePlus 3 would co-exist with the new model or not. After reaching out to OnePlus directly, we can now confirm that the handset maker has officially discontinued sales of its OnePlus 3 smartphone in the US and Europe with no plans to bring it back.

The smartphone first launched in June, but this week the OnePlus 3 went out of stock at the company's website. Despite other online reports that claimed it would be restocked soon, the company now says that it will not be selling the phone anymore in the US and Europe, in favor of the new OnePlus 3T.  That phone, which includes features like a faster processor, a 16MP front facing camera and a larger battery than the OnePlus 3, will officially go on sale on November 22. The Gunmetal color version will launch first, with pricing at USD $439 for the 64GB model and USD $479 for the 128GB version. A Soft Gold edition of the phone will go on sale in the near future.

Are you disappointed that OnePlus has made the decision to no longer sell the (cheaper) OnePlus 3 in favor of the OnePlus 3T? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Vivo Xplay 6 is a Galaxy S7 edge clone with a cheaper price tag

Does the image above look very familiar? I don't blame you because apart from the rounder home button, it looks just like Samsung's current curved flagship, the Galaxy S7 edge. Well, this is not the S7 edge; it's Vivo's latest phablet, featuring a dual-edge display and a dual-camera set up, and not too surprisingly, it's cheaper than Samsung's offering.

The Chinese electronics giant unveiled its new flagship today, and I have to say, it ticks all the right boxes. Right off the bat, you see a gorgeous 5.46-inch curved display with 2K resolution (although the source does not specify, my guess would be that this is an AMOLED display). Judging from the press release photos, Vivo seems to have adopted a Samsung-esque edge toolbar where presumably you'd be able to pin your favourite apps and contacts etc. Under the hood, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor, not the 821 chipset.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. Apart from the obvious design elements, the Vivo Xplay 6 is, at least on paper, packs superior specs. Along with the Snapdragon 820 processor, Vivo's phablet boasts 6GB of RAM, which seems to be the new norm in the Android world. On the back, you will find a 12-megapixel camera, which comes with a Sony IMX362 sensor, 4-axis OIS, and an aperture of f/1.7. Underneath, there is a secondary 5-megapixel module, which according to Gizmo China, will help add a shallow depth of field effect. The front facing camera is a 16-megapixel shooter – again, a trend that we are starting to see in Android devices.

The phone should be able to last a full day and perhaps more thanks to the enormous 4,080 mAh battery, and what's even more baffling is that Vivo managed to pack all of this into a device that is merely 5.2mm thin! I know what you're all wondering, and don't worry, it looks like the 3.5mm headphone jack is there. Phew.

The device will be available for purchase from the official website starting December 12, and it will set you back $655, significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. In the meantime, you can check out more images of the device from below:

Todoist wants to plan your day with AI-based Smart Schedule

todoist-smart-schedule

todoist-smart-schedule

Sometimes you don't feel like making a list and checking it twice (are we right, Santa?) Sometimes you want someone or something to plan your day for you. The popular online list service Todoist feels your pain and today launched Smart Schedule, which uses an AI program designed to create a personalized list of daily tasks.

Todoist says that over 70 percent of its users have overdue tasks on their lists, but Smart Schedule has been created to help with that situation. The company says it uses "predictive modeling" to learn what your habits are, along with patterns from other Todoist users, and uses that information to create your optimized task schedule.

For example, if you have a ton of things to do on Thursday, but are free on Friday, Smart Schedule will suggest moving some of those tasks over from one day to the next. Smart Schedule will also estimate the urgency of each of your tasks, based on anonymous data from other Todoist users. Obviously, you can simply ignore the suggestions, or you can accept or edit them as you see fit. Smart Schedule will also learn from experience and, in theory, should offer better personal schedules over time.

Todoist says that the AI program used for Smart Schedule processes your personal data automatically and is not seen by the company's team members or any outsiders. You can download the latest version of Todoist with the Smart Schedule features now from the Google Play Store.

Xiaomi Mi 5-16

If you own a Xiaomi Mi 5 phone, you may get a chance to try out the company's latest custom interface, MIUI 8, updated for Android 7.0 Nougat. The company is signing up owners for the chance to test the Nougat version of MIUI 8.

What's new in MIUI 8

May 10, 2016

In its announcement post, Xiaomi stated that this week it is looking for people who own the Mi 5 in China, with the deadline of November 21. The good news is that next week, the company plans to begin MIUI 8 Nougat testing sign ups for global ROM owners of the Mi 5.

You will need to go on a PC to apply for testing at the MIUI website. Besides the requirement of owning an Mi 5 phone, interested testers must have at least some knowledge about ROMs and be active in the forums. They also must be willing to chat with other members about their experience in the QQ alpha group and forums. Finally, they must use the QQ app

It goes without saying, but we will say it again anyway: If you do get picked to test MIUI 8 Nougat on your Xiaomi Mi 5, the ROM that you will download and install is labeled as an alpha build, so expect a bunch of annoying bugs to pop up. More updates from Xiaomi about future MIUI 8 Nougat releases for its other smartphones will be revealed in the future.

Amazon Music Unlimited offers family plan for up to six users for $15 a month

android-authority-amazon-music-unlimited

The recently launched Amazon Music Unlimited streaming service now has a new option for people who want to share their account with more people. Amazon's new family plan for Music Unlimited allows up to six users to access the service for $14.99 a month. The older individual plan costs $7.99 a month, so this is a huge value for the money.

Each family member will get his or her own personal recommended list of songs under this new plan while still offering access to tens of millions of tunes. It still offers features such as offline and ad-free listening, access to thousands of playlists, and more. Amazon Music Unlimited is available for Mac, Windows, Android, iOS and of course Amazon's own hardware products like its Fire tablets and its Echo connected speakers.

The $14.99 a month fee is the same for both Amazon Prime and non-Prime subscribers, and compares well to similar plans from Spotify and Apple Music, both of which offer the same price for up to six people. However, if you are signed up to Prime, there's the option to get the family Amazon Music Unlimited plan for $149 a year. That's a savings of nearly $30 a year compared to paying with the monthly plan. If you haven't signed up for Amazon Prime, you are in luck as you can get it for just $79 a year for today only.

Earlier this week, Amazon Music Unlimited launched in the UK, Germany and Austria, but so far the company has not revealed just how many people have signed up to use it.
