Deal: Nexbit Robin on sale at Amazon for only $169.99

nextbit robin review aa (6 of 20)

Nextbit Robin, a unique smartphone that launched on Kickstarter last year and passed its goal in just 10 hours, is currently on sale. You can grab one from Amazon for only $169.99, which is $130 less than the company's suggested retail price and $30 off Amazon's regular price. This really is a great deal, especially when you consider that the Robin was released last year for 400 bucks.

And what exactly makes it so unique you ask? Well, the Nexbit Robin, which raised over a million dollars on Kickstarter, mitigates the storage problems we all experience from time to time by uploading those less-frequently-used apps, as well as images and videos, to the cloud. In addition, the device also stands out thanks to its interesting rectangular design combined with a few circular elements (camera, speaker, proximity sensor, and flash), and popping colors.

The Robin is no slouch in the specs department either, as it offers a 5.2-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of onboard and 100 GB of cloud storage and a 2680 mAh battery. There's a 13 MP camera at the back of the device and a 5-megapixel selfie snapper at the front.

Interested in getting one? Head over to Amazon's product page while it's still in stock.

DC Legends RPG launches and lets you create your own super hero team

dc-universe-legends

After debuting some gameplay with a trailer in October, Warner Bros. Interactive has officially launched DC Legends in the Google Play Store. The mobile free-to-play RPG lets players create their own super hero (or even super villain) team using the huge number of characters in the DC Comics universe.

Yes, you can form your own Justice League with Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman or other lesser known characters, or you could populate your team with villains like Lex Luthor, Joker and others. The game centers, at least for now, on a conflict between those characters and Nekron and the Manhunters. The storyline of the campaign will take players through a number of familiar locations in  the DC Universe, such as  Metropolis, Themyscira, Thanagar and others.

As players engage in battle with their super hero characters, they can upgrade them with new powers and abilities, along with new looks. That includes "Legendary" versions of the characters once they reach a certain rank. In addition to the single player campaign, DC Legends also supports online play with others, and players have the chance to rise up in the game's online leagues to earn more rewards.

Players who return to DC Legends every day will also get extra bonuses with new characters and rewards up for grabs. The game will also get special events that will be tied into ongoing storylines in DC's comics, TV shows and movies. Will you be checking out DC Legends to see if you can form the ultimate super hero team?

Brave Browser is now called Link Bubble… again

Link Bubble Nexus 6P Android Authority

Link Bubble was launched way back in 2014, and it brought something to the browsing world that no one else did: new links opened in small, unobtrusive bubbles that loaded in the background so that you wouldn't ever have to just sit there and stare at a white screen.

Well, earlier this year, Brave Software – a startup founded by JavaScript creator and Mozilla co-founder and ex-CEO Brendan Eich – bought Link Bubble and renamed it Brave Browser. And now the browser's name is back to Link Bubble. It's a bit confusing, I know. Simply put, Brave Browser, formerly known as Link Bubble, is now back to being Link Bubble. And Brave Browser is just a separate app.

Simply put, Brave Browser, formerly known as Link Bubble, is now back to being Link Bubble. And Brave Browser is just a separate app.

Like I said above, Brave Browser Link Bubble is a unique Internet browser that loads new pages in floating bubbles, kind of like Samsung's minimized multitasking bubbles. Instead of staring at the loading bar reach the end, you can do other stuff and then come back and open the bubbles. Even after the acquisition by Brave Software, these features were kept, so really, Link Bubble is the same old app that we loved years ago.

Meanwhile, there will be a separate app called Brave Browser, which features a regular tabbed interface. Brave Browser will have the same ad-blocking capabilities found in Link Bubble, so whichever you use, there's no need to download a plug-in for ad-blocking.

Snake Plissken’s Escape from New York countdown smartwatch could become a reality

escape-from-new-york

Fans of the 1981 cult classic sci-fi film Escape from New York could soon be wearing one of that movie's most iconic devices. A Kickstarter campaign has begun to raise money for a smartwatch version of the countdown clock that was famously worn by the movie's lead character Snake Plissken, played to anti-hero perfection by Kurt Russell.

If you haven't seen the movie . . . well, you need to see it; it's great. If you have, you may remember that Plissken wears a digital countdown clock while on his mission to rescue the President of the United States. The President crash landed in Manhattan, which has been turned into a massive prison for everyone in the country. The countdown clock is to remind Plissken of the amount of time he has before two implanted explosives in his carotid arteries explode, unless he gets back with POTUS in time.

This does not appear to be a fly-by-night Kickstarter campaign. The Escape from New York countdown smartwatch, Lifelock One, is a fully licensed working replica of the prop. However, it can do more that just count down the time.  Among other things, it will have a companion app for iOS and Android that will allow it to push notifications for things like text messages, voice calls, and apps like Twitter and Facebook from your smartphone to the watch.

The Kickstarter campaign is seeking $200,000 to reach its minimal goal, and with 35 days to go it's raised over $36,000. All of the Early Backer versions for $249 have been claimed, but you can still pledge $399 to get the "Snake" edition, with a brown yellow strap. Backing at the $499 level will get you the Gullfire edition with a black leather strap, along with matte black accents on the clock itself. Finally, the USPF (United States Police Force) version will be available for $799, with a silver accent and custom engraving options for the back.

Would you wear this unique bit of movie history as your next smartwatch?

In a blog post, Niantic says that "soon" players who catch a new Pokémon every day will get a daily bonus of 500 XP and 600 Stardust. If the player catches a new Pokémon every day for seven days straight, they will get an additional bonus of 2,000 XP and 2,400 Stardust. Niantic added that if a player catches a Pokémon at any time on Tuesday during their local time, they will be eligible to claim the next daily bonus on Wednesday at 12 a.m. in their local time zone.

In addition, if players go to a PokéStop and spin the Photo Disc every day, they will get a daily bonus of 500 XP, plus "a number of additional items", If they accomplish this task every day for the next seven days, they will get an additional 2,000 XP bonus, plus "a greater number of additional items."

There's no word on when these new bonuses will be added to Pokémon Go, but we would imagine it will be a part of the game at any time. If you've stopped playing the game, do you think these new daily bonuses will get you started again?

vivo-v5-launch

After the launch of Vivo V3 and V3 Max in the country, the company is now set to launch the all new Vivo V5 smartphone in India on November 15, according to an invite we've recieved.

The Vivo V5 sports an all metal body with a fingerprint sensor integrated with the home button placed below the display. The highlight of the V5 is the 20MP front camera along with LED flash. The Vivo V5 is expected to feature a 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display and will be powered by a Snapdragon processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

Founded in 2009, Vivo started manufacturing and marketing its own range of smartphones in 2011. Currently present in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Philippines, the company entered the Indian market in December 2014.

After setting up an assembly unit in the suburbs of New Delhi (Greater Noida) last year under Government of India's 'Make in India' initiative, Vivo introduced their exclusive 'Made for India' V-series smartphones.

The Vivo V5 is expected to cost over ₹20,000. I'll be there at the launch event in Mumbai, and will bring you all the news from the event. Stay tuned!
