Reviews and comparisons

BlackBerry DTEK50 Review

BlackBerry released its first Android smartphone last year. The BlackBerry Priv wasn't quite the hit, but it is definitely popular among BlackBerry fans. Now they are giving Android a second chance with the DTEK50, which they say is the most secure smartphone in the world. Is it? Let's find out!

ZTE ZMAX Pro review

How much can $100 get you? Once upon a time, not too much. Thankfully, recent advancements in tech have helped raise our expectations when it comes to budget phones. Just $100 is exactly how much the ZTE ZMAX Pro costs, and it turns out it isn't too bad for the price. If you are looking for a phone on a  budget, you should really take a look at this one!

ZTE Axon 7 vs OnePlus 3

Say you have $400 to buy a phone. Obviously, that won't get you too much if you go with the big brands, but pick ZTE or OnePlus and you can get a hell of a phone. Then you have to decide which of these two to go with: the ZTE Axon 7 or the OnePlus 3?

Chromebooks expected to exceed 17 million units by 2023

Chromebook-Pixel-1

Affordability, performance and ease of use are a few reasons why Chromebooks have been so successful. And boy have these laptops taken off. According to Statista, there were over 5.4 million Chromebooks shipped by 2015. These Chrome OS computers are now outselling Macs, and they have been among Amazon's top sellers for a long time.

But just how big will Chromebooks get? With the addition of Android app support, we believe things are about to skyrocket. And recent studies seem to agree that Chromebooks are important in the future of computing. According to Global Market Insights, Chromebook numbers are to go up to 17 million units by 2023.

Chromebooks are amazing, but the main complaint was the lack of software availability. Chrome OS has so far been seen as a glorified browser, after all. The addition of the Google Play Store and over a million apps really does change everything.

We have plenty of customers touting Chromebooks nowadays, but big part of the platform's growth is due to education adoption. in 2014, over 60% of Chromebooks in the USA were purchased by the education sector.

It's still a while until 2023, so this does seem like a reasonable expectation. What do you guys think? Does Chrome OS have a future in this industry? Do you think mobile Android apps can replace full-fledged software for that many users?

Keep in mind Nexuses don't pack microSD card slots, so you might want to consider forking over a little more for the 32 GB version. The Nexus 5X is definitely going to be getting Android 7.0 Nougat on release day, so if you don't already have a Nexus and want to be amongst the first to enjoy Nougat, now might be a good time to invest.

The Nexus 5X comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD LCD display, 16 GB/32 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset, 12.3 MP/5 MP f/2.0 camera combo, 2,700 mAh battery, fingerprint scanner and NFC to support Android Pay. Moto Z pre-orders appear on Amazon UK

moto z review aa (19 of 24)

The Moto Z doesn't have an official launch date in the UK yet, but the device has just appeared for pre-order on Amazon UK for £610.19. Previously expected to launch in early September (via Clove) for £495, this new pre-order page is a little unsettling, most notably for the massive price hike from Clove's listed price.

Another thing worth noting is the absence of any images, leading us to believe that this might not be as final a page as you might typically expect. Whether or not that means the price may change as well we're not sure, but the page does offer the Amazon pre-order price guarantee, meaning that if you pre-order and the price drops before your unit is shipped, you'll be charged the lower of the two prices.

The Moto Z ships from Amazon with free delivery in the UK (but no release date is given). Considering you can also pre-order the Moto Z on Clove for £495, you might be better off picking it up from there if you're looking for a little magnet-assisted smartphone love. Of course, the Amazon page might be revealed to include bundled Moto Mods or larger internal storage at a later stage.

Microsoft’s version of IFTTT, called Flow, arrives on Android

Microsoft Flow teaser

Fans of automation will already be intimately familiar with IFTTT. The idea is simple: create basic recipes for actions based on particular triggers. Microsoft Flow does much the same thing, although it has a natural predisposition toward Microsoft products. An open Android beta is now available, so you can install and try out Microsoft Flow for yourself.

best productivity apps for androidSee also: 10 best productivity apps for Android42

The premise is familiar: connect several accounts to Flow including cloud services, email accounts, Slack, Twitter and so on. Then create simple recipes for what to do with them. As Microsoft notes, Flow is designed to deliver notifications, organize data, synchronize files, automate processes and more.

For example, you can be notified in Slack whenever a tweet containing a specific hashtag gets posted (great for entering Nexus season). Or you can receive push notifications whenever Android Authority posts new articles. You can even use Flow to automatically create tweets from your Facebook posts. Or receive an SMS when your boss emails you. Or save Instagram photos to Google Drive. The list is pretty much endless.

Microsoft Flow is clearly targeted at enterprise and business thanks to its Office 365, Github, MailChimp, Dynamics CRM, Salesforce and Yammer integration. But there's no reason you can't utilize the same tools for your own non-business needs. The mobile app, which you can download below, is used for tracking the recipes you'll need to first create on the web.

INSTALL MICROSOFT FLOW

You can sign up to use the service for free on the official Microsoft Flow website. You can also learn more out Microsoft's voice-controlled Conditional Action Programmer.
